A bit about us...
The project's name defines the force that guides us, our work, intention, and beliefs. The earth provides everything. Food, healing, transformation. And everything comes to us through the senses: touch, sound, sight, smell, taste...
Earth is vital energy for us.
We work with the Earth, Medicinal Plants and Natural Products, and with People. Our way of being is based on a strong desire to share what is good for us, what gives us health and well-being, and closeness to natural cycles. We want to support people to live with more autonomy and authenticity in connection with nature. We offer handmade, biodegradable natural daily personal care products and provide training in herbalism and natural cosmetics.
In the near future, Quinta Sentidos da Terra, based in the parish of Gomide in Vila Verde (Braga), will be an educational space with nature and a lot of sharing of knowledge and traditions.
We bring together two continents, two cultures rich in biodiversity: Portugal & Brazil.
And for those who wish to join us on this path: welcome!
Hello, I'm Sílvia...
I am from OPorto, Portugal.
I spent my childhood in the city of Maia, and the most influential person there was my grandmother, Adelina. From her, I learned important values and various remedies that still accompany me today. One practice that deeply marked me was the eucalyptus tincture, which brought her immense relief from severe back pain.
I graduated in Biological Engineering, completed a master's degree in Food Chemistry, and obtained a doctorate in the field of Phytochemistry. In addition to my home country, I have lived in Ireland, Mexico, and Brazil, embracing cultural diversity and biodiversity.
I co-founded the Natursense brand (Sheets, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil) and worked in the field of soap making and natural cosmetics from 2014 to 2021. In 2020, I launched the "Practical Guide to Medicinal Plants of Chapada Diamantina-Volume I". Since 2017, I have been providing training in natural cosmetics.
Hello, I'm Lucas...
I am from the city of Lençóis, nestled within the Chapada Diamantina National Park in the heart of Bahia, Brazil. From ages 4 to 13, I lived with my mother and siblings in the countryside, a life of struggle but rich with learning from the local people. The companionship of my maternal grandparents - Grandma Veraci and Grandpa João - and my Grandpa Antônio ("borrowed grandfather," as we call when not blood-related) allowed me to acquire profound knowledge about plants and their cultivation, everything related to Nature. My school is Life. I am a nature lover, finding happiness amidst the wilderness. Working the land is therapy for me; it's my direct and genuine connection to the essence of everything.
I am a professional gardener, and one of the greatest challenges in this journey is to show people that pruning with respect and care strengthens the plant, and dried leaves are not waste but rich vegetative cover for the soil! I adore landscaping work - both cultivation and construction - and I am passionate about beekeeping.
My children are my strength, and in them lies the hope for a better future.
